Make sure the easy stuff is working before spending money on pumps etc. For the first time the heater sign came on the dash but the van started straight away! The van screen was frozen solid so it was really cold, about -2. The acid test was a few weeks ago when we had the first frost. It turns over noticibly faster and starts within a couple or three seconds every time.

Re fit the lead and the van has been spot on ever since. Cleaned it up to make sure that the contacts were good and also crimped the ends in a vice to get as good a contact with the lead as possible. So I removed the main battery lead to the starter motor. However, as soon as I put jump leads to another car the van would start.every time. Fit a bigger battery but it still didn't make much difference. Van cranked over fairly quickly and cranked for a long time but I just felt that it could turn over quicker than it was doing. Van wouldn't start or took an absolute age to start but a sniff of brake cleaner and away she went. Cracked one of the injectors and cranked it over fuel is getting up to them but just not starting. All electrical connectors in the engine bay. So I got recovered, ordered a new crank sensor fitted it the next day but the van still will not start.Īgain I checked the electric pump. As I parked up 10 miles from home came to star it again and same thing all it would do is crank over. Then I took the crank sensor out cleaned it as there was oil on the end put it back in and the van started instantly. I undid the bleed screw on top of the fuel filter flicked the ignition on and was greeted by fuel spaying everywhere.

My electric fuel pump works as it should building up pressure then stopping. I see the usual problems with the chassis electric fuel pumps and crank sensors so I started there. So I had a quick read on the forum about other peoples misfortunes with vans not starting. Then yesterday I came out in the morning and the van would not start at all. Recently it's been a bit funny starting cranking over for longer than usual.
